This is the beginning of Friday Five. And, I thought I'd start this off by sharing 5 things about it:
So, where did Friday Five come from?
Not always great, but I find that themes generally provide me with some kind of structure. That's how I managed to keep blogging schedules in the past. And that's how I'm able to create content in different ways.
Some people might find plans, themes and schedules a bit too limiting. And, I suppose, they can be - if we let those things define every single aspect of creation. To me, though, the structure is just a way to prompt me to do something and to find different ways to be creative in the limitations.
In fact, that's how I ended up blogging today. I know I've been struggling with my blogging rhythm for some time now. And, since I know life isn't about to hand me more blogging time, I thought that maybe one way for me to blog a bit more is to try my Theme approach again.
That's how the idea for Friday Five came about.
Why Friday Five?
2) Other than themes, I'm a sucker for word play. Especially alliterations. Also, I'm a sucker for lists. I've decided that I prefer sharing shorter lists lately. 3 or 5 is a good number. Since I find myself with some time blogging mostly on the weekends, I decided that Friday is a good day to aim for. With that in mind, I thought that Thursday Three probably won't cut it, so I settled on Friday Five. 🙂
With a number and a day in place, I think I've given myself a good enough 'structure' to work with for blog posting.
What to expect from Friday Five?
3) It definitely won't be happening EVERY Friday. And, I might struggle to come up with 5 things every single time I post something. In fact, I expect that sometimes, Friday Five won't even appear on Friday, with five things. But, I think part of the 'structure' is that I will try to make it meet the basic guidelines. In fact, just as I'm writing this, my iPhone just buzzed the reminder to blog here right now. 😉
Oh, and yes, my Friday Five posts will most likely be a mixture of tips, ideas, stories, photos, recommendations, reviews, and other daily musings. Mostly around my favourite topics. And yeah, blog posts will be as in-depth or as brief as I want them to be. They might be serious some days and just plain loopy some other days.
Can Studio Notes readers suggest Friday Five topics?
4) Yes, absolutely. I'm happy to take requests. Whether you want me to write 5 movies I'd recommend right now, or 5 tips on how to score freebies on your blog, or 5 silly secret stories... You can tell or ask me in the comments section. Or contact me privately.
What if you want to do a Friday Five on your own blog?
5) Then, please, please, please do! And tell us all about it too. We can make it an informal 52WoC community project if you like. You can even borrow topics and other ideas, if you wish. But, if you do, it would be great if you acknowledge the source of your inspiration, of course. 😉
So, let's see how Friday Five goes...
