Life, Inspired

New Header: Life Inspired By Shai Coggins

Well, hello new header and blog title!

After 15 years of blogging (fourteen here, at ShaiCoggins.com), you'd think I'd have it all figured out by now. Truth is: I can never keep this blog the same way as when I first started. Or, when I decided to change it the first time. Or the second. And so forth.

How can I? I'm not exactly the same person as I was when I first started blogging.

A couple of years ago, I renamed this blog back to just being ShaiCoggins.com. I kept it at that way because I wasn't quite sure that the previous name I gave it still fit. Before renaming it, I was calling this blog "Studio Notes". Prior to that, it was "S Studio". I must've called it a few other things before too, but I lost track now.

Well, a few days ago, a new name for this blog suddenly came to me when I was thinking about what I want to blog about. My immediate answer: "Things that inspire me to live a life that I love!"

Bells started chiming. The hallelujah chorus seemed to have started playing in my mind.

"A-ha!" Yes, there it is. That ONE THING that ties it all together. I've known it all along, it seems. But somehow, I couldn't quite articulate it before.

Over the years, I've learnt that a lot of things inspire me. That's why I believed that my blog never seem to have one cohesive thought or subject. And, I've given up trying.

But, now, I realise that that's not exactly right.

I blog about things that inspire me. And, I know that I've done something good when someone tells me: "Now, you've inspired me to... [fill in the blank]."

Like when a total stranger from another country befriended me when she read my blog and got inspired to start her own blog. And, when an old university friend told me that I inspired her to start making bento lunch boxes for her kids when she read all about my bento posts. And, when a handful of people told me that I inspired them to start sketching because they've seen my sketchbooks. Also, when a few good friends said that they've also started doing Words of the Year after they're read my WOTY experiences on this blog.

There are a few other examples and I know that each time I hear someone say that I've inspired them, my heart sings. Not because I want to be 'inspirational' or heroic. I just enjoy knowing that what makes me happy can possibly make someone else happy - be it a new hobby to try or a new kind of chocolate to eat.

I love being inspired by different things (and different people) - from creativity and food to travel and work. And, if I'm able to inspire others by blogging about these things that excite me (no matter how fleeting my interest might be!) - then I know that this blog has done its job.

So, here's to a (sort of) new iteration of ShaiCoggins.com.

Apart from the new title - with a matching new header (I haven't done one of these in a while!) - I've also been working on tidying up the blog. I've simplified categories and moving posts around. I'm also hoping to work on a better content calendar. Only time will tell if "Life, Inspired" will stick - and if it will inspire me to be a better blogger.
