I had the perfect excuse today not to go on this weekly Monday Morning walk that I committed to last week: My 10-year-old son has been unwell and needed a ‘sick day’ at home while I work. Strangely enough, it’s one of the things that I didn’t have on my ‘contingency plan’.
But, yes, since I still don’t leave my kids on their own at home, going out for a walk today seemed out of the question. But, at the off-chance, I thought I’d ask him if he felt strong enough to go on a quick walk around the block anyway. He reluctantly agreed, even though I said he was welcome to say no.
My boy insisted that it would probably do him good to get some fresh air and to stretch his legs for the day.
So, walk we did. I told him that I was thinking of collecting leaves during the walk. And, he offered to help.
Just before we reached our house again, after just 15-20 minutes of walking, my son asked: “Next time I’m home when you go out for a walk, can I come with you again?”
Of course I said yes.
And, when my daughter found out about today’s walk, she asked if she could go too one day.
Anyway, I didn’t get the chance to sketch these leaves today, as I had a lot on my ‘To Do’ List for work and home. I’ve been wanting to do so all day but simply ran out of time. Maybe in the next couple of days, I’d whip out my sketchbook and sketch these gorgeous leaves. Don’t you just love the variety of shapes and colours of each leaf?
Yes, I’m really loving these spreads from my walks. I wonder if I can keep doing them every week?
Oh, and I also fell in love with this photo that I quickly took of flowers that I saw on the pathway at the beginning of the walk -
I don’t have a huge knowledge of flower names so I don’t know what these are called. I’m guessing they’re a type of Iris? In any case, I love their star-like shape and colours. Definitely hoping to sketch and paint them some time.
So, there you go. Another walk and blog post. Let’s see what next week’s check-in would bring.
