One of the things I've been hoping to start doing on this blog is to do a new version of my old round-up posts. I used to do all sorts of them - Friday Five, Web Wednesdays, etc.
But, as this blog continues to evolve, my approach changes too.
With 'inspiration' as this blog's new focus word, I thought that an inspiration-of-the-moment feature is something worth trying here.
The general idea is to share with you some of the things that are inspiring me at any given time - colour palettes that I am loving, home décor and personal style ideas, favourite food and apps, interesting people (artists, designers, writers, etc), great artwork and books, and more. Hopefully, what (or who) inspires me then might end up inspiring you too.
I'm hoping to be able to do this once a month. And, for this month, here are a few of my sources of inspiration (in no particular order):
1. Erin Fitzhugh Gregory

I've only just discovered Erin's gorgeous art a few weeks ago - and it was love at first sight. I'm particularly enamoured with her expressive blooms/still life oil paintings.
2. Home Office Organisation

Since moving to our new home over 1.5 years ago, I haven't really done much to my home office since organising it when we first moved in. Lately, to inspire a new way of working and to encourage some improved productivity and creativity, I've decided to tidy it up and re-organise a few things.
As part of the re-organisation, I purchased a couple of Ikea items: a RÅSKOG trolley (turquoise) to help organise my ever-growing collection of art materials and a BJÖRKUDDEN bar table (birch) to give me a different way of working in my office/studio (and a better view!). As a desk-bound professional, I'm planning to try this 'work while standing up' approach for better health and productivity with this new higher table.
I hope to share how they look like in action one of these days - if not on this blog, at least through one of my social accounts (Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and/or Facebook).
3. Colour Palette
As a creative, I've always loved working with colours. And, while some colours remain 'favourites' over the years, there are always new colours and colour combinations that attract me at any given time. And nowadays, at any given project. One of my favourite colour palettes is this one - a mix of blue, turquoise, and browns. With a touch of black and/or white too. Some of the colours here are the basis of my nautical adventures design collection.
4. Yellow Owl Workshop

One of the nice side effects of my newfound love for digital art and graphic design is that I'm getting to discover amazing artists, illustrators, designers, and businesses while doing my research. And, one of these latest discoveries is Yellow Owl Workshop. I LOVE the work that they're doing! In a different life, I'd love to have this kind of work/business - doing stationery, creative kits, and more. So gorgeous! One of these days, I'd love to get my hands on some of their products.
5. Favourite Apps
If someone told me a few months ago that Adobe Illustrator will be one of the apps that I'd be using A LOT right now, I wouldn't have believed them. After all, I had no clue how to use it, and it just seems so complicated! I mean, I owned Illustrator for many years now, but never really got the hang of it. Now, not only am I using it a lot with digital art and design work, I'm also using it for my other digital work - including this blog. Yes, the above graphic for this blog post is created with AI. And, I'm really loving it.
Pinterest is something that I've been using for a while now - and had done so on and off over the last few years. In fact, for a time, Pinterest was one of this blog's main traffic sources, so I was very much sold on the concept of using it from the beginning. But, lately, I've developed a new love for it, especially as I do my art, design, and digital work research.
6. Long Cardigans

No idea where or how this new obsession kicked in. All I know is that even though it's currently still summer officially in Australia, I have been in-love with my new long cardigan. Yes, even though it's just an el-cheapo one that I bought from Big W. 🙂
You can see me wearing my long cardigan in the photo I posted recently on IG/Twitter/FB:
Perhaps, one of these days, I can share the rest of my style notes about long cardigans.
Well, that's it for now for our very first 'Inspiration of the Moment' post. Looking forward to doing another one for April!
